| Description: |
The following is a general description of the work: SWMF 66 (Trillium Drive) design is for the upgrade (retrofit) of the existing on-line wet pond facility in order to establish a new wetland within Cell 1 and the landscape restoration of the entire stormwater management facility (SWMF) - Cell 1 and 2. Located on the south side of Trillium Drive, west of the intersection of Strasburg Road, servicing the Huron Business Park, in the City of Kitchener, the newly established wetland will provide treatment and disposal of stormwater runoff, enhanced water quality protection and enhance the existing quantity control discharging to the North Branch of Strasburg Creek. Following the retrofit, the facility will remain on-line providing the existing regional flood control volume for the 112ha and will provide greater than 100% of Level 1 control of the directly connected drainage (15ha). The wetland retrofit (Cell 1) of SWMF66 will accept runoff from the 15 ha drainage area from one concrete lined inlet channel flow from McBrine Drive and will continue to operate as the primary facility inlet. The works generally include the excavation and off-site disposal of on-site materials to permit the creation of a proposed 620cu.m forebay followed by a permanent pool volume of 3,830 cu.m, with a series of two (2) plunge pools, separated by a series of field stone flow control berms. Work will also include the construction of a maintenance access road, removal and reconstruction of a portion of the berm operating the SWMF from the North Branch of Strasburg Creek, construction of new 1500mm dia. CSP hickenbottom device which contains four 65mm dia. orifices and one (1) 230mm dia. orifice and an emergency armourstone spillway. Re-vegetation of Cell 1 and the re-vegetation of the upland areas of Cell 2, all sediment control and dewatering activities are also included within the works. |
